First Project in Mexico

The first residency took place in Mexico City and Monterrey between the 19th

April and the 2nd of May, 2018. The Anonymous Body was presented by Noriko

Kato, Ivan Ontiveros and Benyam Seifu through a series of workshops,

collaborations and live presentations.

The anonymous body and the individual that lies within. The individual body's

self-perception is formed by how the collective body (society) views it, and thus it

becomes anonymous to both society and itself; it loses its individual identity.

This anonymous body can only find its true nature in an isolated internal space

free from the the interference of the collective body. It develops its individual

voice and its own individual perceptions of reality.

But these anonymous bodies could not exist without contact and connection with

others (society/other anonymous bodies) thus underpinning the human necessity

of the collective. It is here that the mass of anonymous individual bodies form

one, single, greater body, with a singular voice: the collective consciousness.
